Millions of Marylanders are dependent on dams for water supply, flood control, power generation, recreation and irrigation. High standards including proper design and construction of dams, properly operated and well-maintained dams and effective emergency warning plans can help prevent dam failures, save lives and property and enable us to continue to enjoy the benefit that dams provide.
The Maryland Department of the Environment has developed, adapted or adopted documents to support dam owners, engineers and contractors in the shared mission of dam safety. Please refer to this link for more information.
