The Prince George’s Soil Conservation District launches new website to better connect Prince Georgians with its locally-led soil and water conservation programs.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Today the Prince George’s Soil Conservation District is proud to launch a new website that improves the user experience and provides targeted resources to its diverse customer base. The all-new, mobile-friendly design reflects the District’s evolution as it has grown to better serve residents throughout Prince George’s County. This design highlights local images, provides direct links to the District’s social media channels, and includes a wide range of new features for easier browsing and navigation.
All-New Design
The newly designed homepage provides an overview of its features, such as the latest news, upcoming events, conservation partners, fast facts, and search functionality. It features images taken by staff members throughout Prince George’s County, highlighting urban development sites, productive farmland, local education, and outreach events. The website also enables visitors to learn more about the District’s history, its mission, and many of its local conservation and outreach programs.
The entire site features a clean, modern design that was inspired by the District’s mission to protect the land and promote the health and safety of the County’s populous. It provides easy access to navigate anywhere on the site, learn about upcoming public events, and read facts about the District’s accomplishments in soil and water conservation. All of these features provide a more detailed, richer website that serves the public.
“The new website is an opportunity for the District to reach new audiences while providing additional targeted resources to our existing cooperators and stakeholders,” according to Steven Darcey, Executive Director of Prince George’s Soil Conservation District. “In this digital age, we feel it is important to improve the virtual experience for our users and provide new tools for them to connect with us regularly. One of the new tools that we are most excited about is our new blog, The Dirt.”
Expanded Programs and Resources
The District’s new website features an expanded programs menu and an all-new resources page. The new programs menu features all programs and community events that the District is involved in, such as cover crop, equipment rental, conservation planning and more, allowing visitors to learn more about the District’s outreach initiatives. The new resources page provides a thorough list of agencies, extensions, organizations, and other resources for visitors who seek more information and guidance.
Each program, initiative, and event has its own dedicated page to provide a complete browsing experience. Along with accompanying photos and hyperlinks, each page features detailed information to help visitors better connect with local and state programs.
