American University’s Healthy Schools, Healthy Communities Lab is excited to announce the 2025 Agricultural Infrastructure and Equipment (AIE) Grant Opportunity.
The AIE Grant is designed to expand the capacity of established farmers located in the Mid-Atlantic. The purpose is to increase the production of fruits and vegetables in the region through the purchase of equipment and infrastructure, subsequently improving access to local produce for Washington D.C. and neighboring cities. Awards will range is $2,500 – $4,999. Funds will be awarded from May through July 2025.
To be considered, the farm must meet the following requirements:
- Be an established farm with at least 3 years in operation; have a Federal Tax ID (EIN) and file a Schedule F (IRS Form 1040)
- Demonstrated commitment to serving D.C. Wards 7 & 8 with produce
- Located within the Mid-Atlantic region, which includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C
