The 2022 Delmarva Soil Summit was held this past week and it was a success! Soil health experts delivered plentiful information to small and large-scale growers with farmer-led panel discussions and breakout sessions.
Our very own District Manager, Steven Darcey, was mentioned in The Delmarva Farmer‘s news article discussing the Delmarva’s Soil Summit panel that represented local agricultural categories.
With soil health practices being discussed, Mr. Darcey asked the panel about the use of lespedeza, a summer weed that can be used as a forage crop for grazing or erosion control. The soil panel also discussed important practices such as minimizing soil disturbance, no-till farming, utilizing pollinator-friendly plants, and maintaining diversity with crop succession.
