Resources for Home Gardens
While we only have the capacity to work with urban farms and community gardens, we recognize the significant role that home gardens play when it comes to stormwater management and soil and water conservation practices. Believe it or not, many of our urban farms begin as home gardens! We feel that it’s important to support home gardeners with their conservation goals when possible. Although we don’t have the capacity for site visits at this time, feel free to contact us with your question or concern and we will do our best to direct you to the appropriate resources.
In the meantime, please check out the following University of Maryland Extension resources for home gardeners, as well as, our resource page:
- Bay-wise Gardening
- Monarch Waystation Program
- Home & Garden Information Center
- Master Gardeners
- Soil Testing
Finally, there are several grant programs available to residents and organizations to implement Best Management Practices for stormwater management through the Prince George’s County Raincheck Program. These BMPs include rain gardens, rain barrels, permeable pavement, and planting native trees.
